Rooms with a Crappy View

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Hoboken is a great place to live if you work in and around NYC. While not necessarily the cheapest of places, the proximity to the Big Apple and all it has to offer makes Hoboken a prime location for many of today's young professionals.

You can walk down many of the neighborhood streets and see some interesting old architecture and even feel at peace within its urban setting. Also, plenty of great restaurants and drinking establishments.

However, don't expect much in the way of underground communications and power infrastructure. As you'll see in the images below, there are some truly horrific masses of tangled phone and power lines!

For some of these residents it might be a good idea to keep their blinds permanently shut.

I wonder if any of the landlords offer a "crappy view" rent discount?

I think this is one time I'd ask for an inside office....or the view wouldn't matter too much like you said. The architecture is lovely however:)

Very interesting architecture and painted iron railings on many of the stoops.

Yes it is!! But I wonder if they hear a hum from those canisters if they sit out there for their daily smoke?? hehe....can you imagine being the hydro guy who has to work through the lines of spaghetti on those poles?? The fireworks would be a little disconcerting too if there was a lightening storm or a short in a wire or three.

Nothing quite like the blue flash that lights up the nighttime sky when a transformer blows.

Does get in the way of some good pictures.

It would drive me crazy to have to look out at that mess every day!

Oh my. I wouldn't want to live near those @cognoscere!

Interesting to hear about Hoboken though. It's not an area I've come across before. 😊

I endure that and more to live near New York. Quiet friend everything will be fine as long as there is no electrical short circuit or someone throws a clothes hook to the cables. The area looks calm and friendly. Success and greetings

Yeah, It's very relaxing to walk around Hoboken, well, at least the parts I've been to. Great places to eat and awesome views of the Manhattan skyline!

Great pictures @cognoscere
These pictures show the chaos in the system... And this chaos reduces the beauty, but in the jungle, there's also chaos as a result of twigs ... But nature's chaos is the secret of nature's beauty.

Nice observations!!!

Ah yes, almost makes you feel like you went back in time a bit. Or maybe it's like those Soviet era state apartment boxes of the former USSR I've seen in photos. Makes me feel grateful for living in a small town...

=^..^=

Yes, it certainly does have a look from long ago!!!

Nice captures dear , electricity wires are too much and its common problems in all cities around the world
Have a nice day

This type electricity wires are very common in india cities haha

Yeah, you would think by 2018 that we would have eradicated most of the above-ground rats nests, but no such luck. Maybe by 2118 ;-)

damn that view will really suck hahah

New York is one of the most beautiful cities in the world
A place where I wish to live
But I'm really afraid of electricity
