Gingerbread House Display - [Peddler's Village, Lahaska, Bucks County, PA]
My wife and I spent the better part of today walking in and around the quaint town of New Hope, Pennsylvania which sits directly across the Delaware River from Lambertville, New Jersey.
Often times, we'll park in Lambertville and walk across to New Hope over the two-lane New Hope – Lambertville Bridge.
We've been off from work all week, and today's itinerary was as follows:
- Drove to and climbed up Bowman's Hill Tower which is a 125-foot-tall (38 m) stone tower that was erected in 1930 in commemoration of General George Washington's Crossing of the Delaware on Christmas Night 1776 and the subsequent Battle of Trenton on December 26th, 1776.
- Lunch at Bowman's Tavern and Restaurant.
- Drove on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River into New Hope. Walked for an hour or so on the D&R Canal tow path through New Hope and then walked back through the town proper.
Quick break at Starbucks to warm up and get a caffeine boost.
Drove to Peddler's Village which is up the road a few miles from New Hope in the town of Lahaska, PA. Peddler's Village is a popular outdoor shopping location with roughly 60 shops and restaurants. In addition, there are a number of local artisans who peddle their works.
In this post, I'll be working backwards and will share some images of a gingerbread house display that was setup inside the small Village Gazebo (sorry, this is the back of the Village Gazebo, I forgot to photograph the front, but you get the idea).
The gingerbread house competition was held previously, and it's fitting and proper that I give props to the winners:
Due to the small size of the Village Gazebo, we had to wait in queue for about 15 minutes before getting our turn inside. And due to the crowded elbow-2-elbow situation inside the gazebo, I had to rush many of these shots.
Also, bear in mind that many of these gingerbread houses were created by kids and students.
