Tai Chi Boxing-----A Soft and Healthy Sport

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Tai Chi Boxing is a soft and healthy sport which was found during 17th century in China. Even though it is called boxing, it is actually very different with the traditional boxing. When playing Tai Chi, you move your body slowly and gentlely. It seems you are very relaxing. In fact, it will fuel a lot of calories. 30 minutes of Tai chi would make you exude sweats. You have to focus on your mind when playing Tai Chi. This sports will help you keep balance between you body and your spirit. You will gain bunches of benefits from Tai Chi, but lose nothing at all. Chi means the pole of Ying or Yang. Everything in this world belongs to Ying or Yang. Every single thing has two side of Ying or Yang. So as the Tai Chi itself.

The above picture shows a lady is playing Tai Chi, you never know that she is actually a very late stage lung cancer patient, so Tai Chi is one way of her treatment.

The above is written by Changkun, it includes the following Chinese characters:

一名長拳, 一名十三勢。長拳者如長江大海 滔滔不絕也。
十三勢者掤、捋、擠、按、採、挒、肘、靠、進、退、顧、盼、定也。
掤、捋、擠、按即坎、離、震、兌四正方也。
採、挒、肘、靠即乾、坤、良、巽四斜角也。此八卦也。
進步、退步 左顧、右盼、中定即金、木、水、火、土也。此五行也。
合而言之曰十三勢。

There are two explanations for Tai Chi Boxing. One is Long Boxing, another one is thirteen techniques. Long Boxing,is just like the water that flows in the Yangtze River, the water flows forever. Thirteen techniques include holding, stroking, squeezing, pressing, mining, lying, elbowing, relying, forwarding, backing, looking, staring and fixing. Holding, stroking, squeezing and pressing represent the four direction of a square. mining, lying, elbowing and relying represent the four angles. forwarding, backing, looking, staring and fixing represent the five elements, they are gold, wood, water, fire and earth, respectively. All together, there are totally thirteen techniques in Tai Chi Boxing.
