A rare relation of the potato family near AdelaidesteemCreated with Sketch.

Anthocercis angustifolia is a relatively rare species in the Solanaceae (Potato and Tomato family) found in populations in the Adelaide Hills and in the Flinders ranges, but nowhere else in the world!

It is more common after fire and is found in rocky terrain, which is where I found the examples in the pictures below.

I had read about this plant and was walking and came across some examples in bloom. It was in late winter.

It is a fairly small, unassuming plant, that would be difficult to spot without the flowers.

It would be an interesting plant to consider bringing into cultivation for horticulture as the entire plant is covered in large white flowers when in full bloom

It is a good feeling to find something rare and unique in the world we live in, thriving quite close to a large urban area. Sorry the photos are not the best, I hope you found this interesting and thanks for reading.
