Acquaintance Party: Bigger, Brighter and Bolder | Building Camaraderie & Fellowship
It is not that easy to be in Senior High. We were likely to be in our 1st-year college, perhaps a 5th grader. More projects to be done: more subjects to obtain: more responsibilities to face: and more friends to have.
Speaking of which, our school holds an annual Acquaintance Party Senior High both Grade-11 & Grade-12 students. It is for us both new and old students to mingle and to acquaint ourselves with one another. The other purpose for this event is for all the senior high students to be comfortable in interacting and working with the people around.
We celebrated the Acquaintance Party just yesterday, July 14. Before the event, I felt nervous with excitement. I have many responsibilities to work because I was recently elected as the president of the senior high department. Later on, I volunteered to be the event's photographer/documentarian. Without further conversation, let me reminisce the memories and moments we had in our Acquaintance Party.
June 14 yesterday, the acquaintance party was held at our school the SPM Academy Inc. Our school isn't well-known yet because it's still in the process of being progressive. I could barely tell you that our acquaintance party is a lot different. Unlike other schools' acquaintance party, they spend a lot of money and holds their event at a fancy reception.
For every student, we only paid 150 pesos for the funds for the event. Overall, we raised 8 thousand pesos which include the designs, prizes, giveaways, and foods. We were estimated to be at 100 students.
My fellow students came from 1 pm to 2 pm. Before taking our seats, we first registered ourselves to the registration booth to confirm our arrival and to get our food stamps.
So yeah, the said event had officially started at 2 pm with an invocation. I was the one who led the invocation. The program was hosted by our subject-teacher Ms. Bedro.
It was followed then by an introduction from our principal Mr. Toledo. He welcomed everyone at the party with his wonderful words. We were also thankful to him because he was the one who initiated this event.
We also invited a guest speaker which was Ms. Amancio, an overall-principal from our school. She explained to everyone the true meaning of an acquaintance party, the benefits and what it aims.
After a short talk, we showcased our presentations which were by section. We witnessed the dance presentations of the other groups which were added by a little sense of humor. It was very funny! I enjoyed watching their performances while taking some shots. I hope they liked our presentation as well.
Just as I was about to mention, it was a Coachella Themed event. Various of fashions were showcased by my fellow schoolmates. Girls wore their beautiful and gorgeous dresses with colorful accessories. Boys also wore their denim coats and shades which made them more handsome.
More talents were showcased. A band of boys sang a jamming song which made the crowd sing along. Some women also sang wonderful high-noted songs.
The best part of being the photographer was the thought of knowing anyone you want to. I went to other sections to take a photo of every student. It was like I'm being close to them, the funniest thing was when they don't want me to photograph them. Some had their nasty-attitude but I had to be friendly.
The least expected moment of the event was the announcement of the contenders to win the Mr. and Ms. Coachella 2018. The teachers chose the pretty and handsome ones with their beautiful and vivid attires.
They were asked to walked in the aisle to prove themselves why they are deserving to win the crown. They were also asked to answer a question. Some included a sense of humor while answering the questions. The crowd was shouting every time a contender finished answering.
The oathtaking of the officers was inserted in the middle of the event. It is for everyone to witness the promises which we made for the succession of our senior high year.
The most exciting part of the event was the game "Trip to Jerusalem". Where 15 girls are sitting in their chairs forming a circle and 16 boys dance around the circle and seats when the music is stopped. It was very exciting because both girls and boys were from different sections and grade.
One by one they were being eliminated. Laurence won, but they added a twist. They let the 2 remaining girls find the chair blindfolded. The crowd was cheering on the two girls. At last, the chair was finally found and there were 2 winners to be exact.
Everyone was starving so we went to our canteen area to claim our packed meal. A playlist of music was played to chill the stress out and for everyone to eat with a song to sing along. It was a delicious and satisfying meal, I was indeed full.
Before we ended the program we had taken first some photographs section by section along with the advisers.
The giveaways were already given from the start. But we were asked not to keep it yet because we were going to exchange it with others' giveaways. The good thing is we were given a chance to approach our fellow schoolmates.
So yeah the program was successfully ended. It was a very remarkable event. We spend our time bonding with each other and taking more photographs. We also cleaned first the trashes and get rid of the decorations we used.
It was a tough day for me. I was sick and tired of writing this blog. Yet I gained a lot of friends. You see, I captured a number of faces of my schoolmates both new and old. Many approached me to grab their photos. It was a perfect time to know them properly and to be a friend to them.
I learned to be friendly and kind to everyone. I hoped they were happy to have me though they got a free photographer (just kidding). Well, all I can say is that the acquaintance party is very important indeed. It is the way to gain more friends and to be a friend as well. I was hoping for more events like this. Now that we grew bigger, brighter and bolder we are now able to share our bonds and friendships together.
More Camaraderie!
