Ambush Bug

Scientific Name: Phymatinae
Living up to their name, the Ambush bug ambushes its prey, waiting patiently, sometimes many hours, camouflage on flowers and grass for the tasty meal they will attack with their two front legs and then devour..

I thought the Ambush bug would be related to the praying mantis because of its legs and style of hunting, but after research have found they are not related. They do share very similar legs that are perfect for grabbing and holding prey though.

A Wish Came True

I was using the lawn mower earlier today and found this bug on my shoulder, I wished I had my camera to take a picture because it was so unique, it really looked like a fragment of a tree or a piece of bark. I was slightly bummed I forgot my camera at home, until I actually came home and saw it again on my succulent plant inside my house!!

The Famous Ambush Bug

Ambush Bug is also a fictional character that has appeared in several DC Comics! Surprisingly enough, even though it was my first time seeing this bug, it is quite popular. Ninety eight issues of DC Comics have featured Ambush Bug! Famously known as a humorous Nutcase, trying to be a hero yet his altered view of reality tends to get in the way.
