The Year Of The Monarch Butterfly? (in Utah...)
Right now for some odd reason Utah is having a mass migration of the Monarch Butterfly. More specifically known as the Painted Lady Butterfly, this is one of the largest migration Utah has seen since 1972. All over the valley we are seeing a lot of them and we are seeing them a lot sooner than normal as well. This migration does make for nice photos and interesting walks but it is a little weird. The only real theory for this is due to Climate Change, random fluke is in a close second though. With the change in the climate the animals are changing in the area all around. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out and what the real reason for the migration is but I will say it is a bit warmer and more rainy in recent years.
