I think depends on the viewer perception at that moment as says @vonaurolacu. The combination of elements in a photo, like contrast, colors, etc. could be so diverse, as diverse is the people.
agree with you ! most of time the mood of visiter is what influences his/her attitude towards some specific photograph or series
Agree too about "every single Artist has his/her specific touch and point of view on different subjects" as you said to @fiftysixnort. I think you can not follow trending topics to do your pics, thats would be the way to destroy the artist.
you're absolutely right - trands are "destroying", especially new coming Artists who are only look for their stile of making Art.
i have daily discussions about mainstream and how to recognise it :-)
