Brick Walling A Knickpoint to Prevent Further Erosion

in #photography7 years ago

Dug this hole over the fall as a retention pond of sorts to prevent the excessive flooding of my fire pit, and had in mind that this erosion would occur, just not as fast as it did. So I figured I would try to put some brick up against the drainage wall to prevent the further transport of sediments into the hole and the calving away of large chunks. I am in no ways a stone mason or brick mason or whatever, but we shall see how well this performs for now. Since I didn't lay any grout to seal them together, I am a little skeptical of its integrity and how efficient it will be at preventing the knick point from traveling further uphill.

Finished for the day, may come back to do more tomorrow

Added a bunch more natural rounded river stones to the rock dam. Catches a lot of the sediment intially. Wonder what to do with the fine sediment that collects..

Had to pile a ton of brick and to try to make a platform to stand on so I wouldn't sink into the sludgy sediment

Open to tips, advice or anything there is to offer.

Thanks for checking it out!
