The river Padma had showed different planform pattern with the changes from meandering to braided, which varied spatially and temporally. Sequential left bankline migration of the Padma river at Harirampur upazila had been explored from topographic and aerial photography maps of 1765, 1860, 1925, 1943, 1952, 1963 and time series digital satellite images from 1973 to 2009, and also using geographic information services (GIS). The Padma was the narrowest channel in 1860 along Faridpur-Harirampur nodal line.
