A CYCLE OF LIFE / Water Lilies
Six days in the life of a water lily.
In Spring the pond fills in with lily pads, each one in a battle to find its own space. Under the water small unseen flower buds begin to rise to the surface.
Soon these small buds are breaking the surface and warming in the sun.
The bud will bloom on its third day in the sun.
It continues to bloom for several days. Each night the pedals are closed, but in the morning they open.
Eventually the flower will only partially open and will start to lean towards the water.
Finally the flower remains closed and begins to sink to the bottom of the pond.
It is a beautiful cycle that repeats itself over and over again throughout the summer. And it is also a reminder concerning our own life, that the only certainty of life is death. It reminds us to appreciate and find beauty in each day we are given.
A beautiful flower, used poignantly to illustrate a subtle truth of life.

Quran 32:27. Do they not see how We conduct the
water to a dry land, and with it We produce
vegetation, from which their livestock
eat, and themselves? Do they not
see?
28 . And they say, “When is this victory, if
you are truthful?”
29 . Say, “On the day of victory, the faith of
those who disbelieved will be of no avail to
them, and they will not be given respite.”
30 . So turn away from them and wait. They
too are waiting.
