To BEE or not to BEE - Worker Bee Hatching from Cell - spectacular video

How a bee gets born

When I was working in my beehive, something miraculous happened in front of my eyes. I witnessed a very special moment: A young worker bee hatching from her cell. Luckily for you, I was able to grab my phone to show it to you. :-)

Exciting sound from the comb

Normally, when I am working the hive, you hear the buzzing of the bees and the birds chirping.. But today I heard a crisping sounds, prrrrprrrr, prrrrprrrr. When I got close I could see that, right at that moment, some bees were trying to get out of their cells.

The story behind the pictures

What you are now watching is a great moment in the life of the bee. It starts with the QUEEN laying eggs in the comb. They are nourished and fed by worker bees (pollen from flowers !!) so that they can grow to larva (after three days). They grow and , grow and transform into a pupae. At day 9 the cell is capped (as on the pictures). After 24 days in total the bee is born/hatches as you've just witnessed!

I always heard "To beer or not to beer". Your post brings in a new perspective on Shakespeare... - just kidding :D Lovely post @beesteem, thank you!

That is a famous quote from ShakesBEER :-) . Have a good one!

So clever, both of you!

Hey, that is so cool @beesteem How long have you been a beekeeper? I consider myself a way amateur/new"bee". If you get a chance check out my 2nd blog where I share one of my beekeeping stories. I'm so glad I found you.
Upvoted and following and resteeming. Don't get to excited about the resteeming, I only have a few followers.

Hi I am beekping now for the third year and doing great! I let the bee the bee, so it is not for honey but just to let them grow. After winter, sometimes, there is something left for me :-).

I'll check your post. And.... it is not about followers, its about the great community to share information, like we are doing right now! Keep going.

That is great. I ve been in Iowa but was not aware of beekeeping at that time. Do you have good harvests over there?

Iowa used to be famous for its honey production. There used to be a lot of clover for them to work on. Sadly the clover fields have been plowed up for corn or soybeans.

Do you have problems with the Varroa mite over there?

My first year with 2 hives I harvested about 50 pounds. One of those hives was located in town and produced the nicest dark honey, due to the variety of flowers in town.

Yes indeed. I was really excited that I could witness this. Have a good day. Bee well :-)

Awesome!
I love bees. A gardener's best friend.

Yes indeed. I really see the difference: When I started beekeeping all greens and flowers started to improve! It's really nice.
