Wollaton Hall England, UK - Built 1580 ad!!! - #architecturalphotography #walkwithme

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Wollaton Hall is one of those places that holds special childhood memories for me.

I remember us taking a picnic and a football and playing on the huge lawns during the summer and hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous Deer that are protected in this park.

It is such a beautiful place in all seasons. During the summer, people enjoy the vast open spaces for picnicing and playing and during the winter, it is used for sledging down the huge hill that the Hall sits upon when it snows!

'1580 – 1588 – Wollaton Hall is built by the Elizabethan architect Robert Smythson. This was the same year in which the Spanish Armada was defeated and William Shakespeare presented his first play in London.'

'2011 – Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises was filmed here. The Hall is five miles north of Gotham, Nottinghamshire where Gotham City got its name.'

Great pics! I've been there a few times, always got a bit freaked out by all the stuffed animals inside! :-D

yes, I took some pictures of the stuffed animals too, but couldn't bring myself to post them lol There is definitley something freaky about them and slightly disturbing...

Such amazing buildings. I get a spooky feeling, looking at them, still they are beautiful

It is pretty spooky, I wouldn't like to be in there alone at night! lol

Beautiful series of photos! The vintage frame effect works really well with the shots of historic buildings.

Thank you :) Yes I love this frame when I do historic building posts! :) glad you like it too

that Amazing pictures...so nice

thank you so much :)

wow what beauties these buildings !!! :D

they are stunning! There is so much detail that has gone into each of the buildings :)

wonderful photographies @beautifulbullies ... I am becoming your fan hehe.. thanx for sharing

lol thank you @smartphoto, I am glad you enjoyed them! :)

Excellent photos and I love what you've done with the edges. I didn't know that Batman had been filmed outside the US but should have guessed. That is the perfect building and near Gotham? Perfect place!

It can get frustrating at times but it's a hubby's duty to make certain that you aren't taking things too seriously. Good pix of him too though!

Yes, Batman was filmed here, I think the mansion was used as The Wayne Mansion :) They actually put a lot of work into the place with the money they got from filming, so the Hall and the area has greatly benefited from the film too which is amazing :) The Nottinghamshire town Gotham, is pronounced here as Goat-ham :)
The Hubster is a naughty boy at times, but he is funny :) He likes to get in on the Steemit action without having to write anything haha
Thank you for your kind comments, I am glad you enjoyed the pictures! :)

I'm such a fan of Gothic Architecture! I really didn't like a couple of the Batman movies but it was worth going for the art!
