Lunch in Portland, Then On to the Coast

The drive from Spokane went quick with the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge to keep my wife and I company on our morning journey. Soon, like two giant gatekeepers, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Hood grew larger as we sped closer.

The peace of the open road waned as we entered Portland. The city, loud and melodic, like an alt-rock song welcomed us as we weaved our way through traffic. Finally we were downtown. Time to eat! The great thing about Portland is there are endless choices for lunch. Finding our way near Pioneer Square, we hit up the food trucks for a tasty lunch.

After lunch we hopped on a bus to South Waterfront to ride the aerial tram up to Oregon Science and Health University and Hospital. The view over Portland's South Waterfront District was worth it and the cable car really speaks to the city's commitment to education, transit solutions, and healthcare. Since late 2006, students and patients can easily access OSHU with public transit.

We didn't take public transit on the next leg of our trip to the coast, but maybe we should have! Follow me @beartooth-clark for more adventures!
