Balalang ini dikatakan belalang batu karena warnanya yang gelap atau dominam ke warna abu-abu dan hitam dengan sedikit bintik-bintik coklat sehingga kalau dia hinggap di batu hampir tidak dapat dilihat kalau kita coba perhatikan secara serius pasti sangat mengagumkan dengan warnanya yang sangat padu.
