How I made this Image|| Editing Process
what?
Are you going to edit the Image?
isn't photography about keeping things natural?
Very Often Photographers are asked these questions as People usually think if a photographer edits an image, he's not really a good enough Photographer. It is a stereotype, back in India at least.
The real answer to this is that the camera does not see things the way our eyes do.
That's why I feel the Human eyes are the Best Cameras in the world.
Nothing can get better.
A photographer might see a colourful scenery and click an Image, but while he goes back to his place and see the same image on a bigger screen, the Image is just not as colorful.
To overcome this difference our eyes and camera, We have photoshop and Lightroom.
Process Steps
1)Original RAW Image
The picture looked great in the small camera screen, but that was not the case when I viewed it on my laptop screen. The RAW file looked flat and lacked the Depth.
That is where colour correction in Adobe Lightroom comes into the picture.
If you are someone who does not know to colour correct in Lightroom, here is a tutorial video you should watch.
2)Edited version one
Lets now move on to the first Lightroom edit.
Here I pumped up the contrasts and shadows, Made the blacks even more black and saturated the yellow and colour tone separately.
So basically, this part of the Image where I get the sky right.
3)Edited version two
We see from the Edited version one that The Sea and The Ground is underexposed. This Calls for Version two where we are going to overexpose the bottom part of the RAW image. So I Increased the exposure and Contrast in post which causes the sky to loose out certain details, but we need not worry as we won't be having that part our final edited Image. I also made sure that the yellows and orange on water reflection is the same as the sky in the edited version one.
4)Mask and combine them both to get the Final Image
Concept of masking is like keep two pieces of papers on top of the other and cut out the top part in a shape to partly expose the bottom layer. So we don't that, but on photoshop .
Here is a Tutorial Video on Masking technique
Exif:
Shutter Speed | Aperture | ISO | Camera | Lens |
---|---|---|---|---|
1/80 | 13 | 100 | Canon 600D | 18-55mm Kit Lense |
That was it, Guys.
Hope you enjoyed going through this one.
