Great Salt Lake, Utah - New Years Day

We spent New Years Day at Antelope Island State Park near Salt Lake City, Utah. This State park is an Island in the Great Salt Lake. The Great Salt Lake is the largest Lake in the United States that is not part of the Great Lakes. I remember going there as a kid and being able to float easily in the very salty water. I also remember coming here to camp once before in the summer a long long time ago. Most of what I could remember was all of the bugs and mosquitos which I didn't want to experience again.

Well it was New Years Day and we wanted to find something fun to do while it was cold outside. I thought why not go check out the Great Salt Lake since my wife has never been. Plus the bugs shouldn’t be out because it was winter. As we walked around the island it felt like we were in a different world. It was a beautiful clear day and the reflections on the lake with the clean white snow were phenomenal. We went on a small hike called Buffalo Point Trail which was a short, about a mile, and beautiful trail. We also walked down around the Bridger Bay beach. We hit a great day. I would highly recommend finding a clear winter day to go!
