My Mountain Getaway: A Teaser
I recently took my wife on a short Appalachian vacation and you won't believe what happened next!
OK, so maybe the header is making things sound more exciting than they really were. Or...maybe it isn't!
Either way, we had a great time on our relatively short trip! (We didn't want it to end and will probably be going back soon enough.) We stayed at a nice bed and breakfast, journeyed into the mountain forests, visited an aquarium, and saw beautiful sunsets, among other things. The weather was great, the people were friendly, and the scenery was just splendid! It was nice to get away for a few days and not spend so much time with our phones and other electronics, which we barely used while we were there.
Here is a short teaser of what I'll be sharing over the coming weeks.
Here are a couple of images from our bed & breakfast. (I took lots of photos and I'll be doing a full write-up on this place. It was excellent!)
This was the actual entrance to our room.
On our first full day, we spent the late morning and almost all afternoon at the local aquarium.
We were surprised to learn that they had just opened a lemur exhibit! These guys were pretty alert and active.
That evening, we decided to try out a little hang gliding. Alright...so we didn't actually do the hang gliding ourselves, but we did watch and take some pictures. The views were amazing!
The next morning, we walked over to the local touristy park, which was right across the street from the bed & breakfast. It's apparently one of the main attractions in the area. It had a lot of rocks and trees and stuff.
And some good views to the east.
In the afternoon, we traveled to a state park and took a walk through the woods.
Our destination for this walk was a few waterfalls. We only made it to one of them. Can you see it in the background?
We wrapped up the day with another mesmerizing sunset!
Although this was a short trip for us, it was certainly magical! We agreed to go back again, perhaps to see the leaves changing color in the fall. Be sure to keep an eye out for the many posts that I'll be sharing over the next few weeks. We had quite an adventure!

Whooaaaa 😲!
Some of these photos are stunning. All amazing but some , really stunning.😉😏😎
The sunset is my favorite. 🔥 sky!
I have never considered taking time to make a trip to the Appalachians until now 😉
It looks like a great time!
And shot with your camera bought with steem!
Steem on 🐳 @ats-david
Thank you! If you ever get the chance to do it, give it a shot. I honestly never even knew that places like this existed in the Appalachian mountains. My entire life I had been a hater and preferred the Rockies. I still like the Rockies, but I'm certainly reconsidering my view of these eastern hills.
really nice photos. did you actually get to stay in your own stone cottage, or was that an room off the main house? look forward to your upcoming post about it! looks like a beautiful place. :)
Hey I guess you are commenting from the eSteem app, do you know why good-karma stopped voting us?
Hey there @duhov I have no idea why that is?
I busted my machine and have been limited to the esteem app for about a week now.

Awesome pictures! That bed and breakfast looked amazing.
Was that "Look out Mountain" Where the hang gliders were gliding off of?
It sure was! Have you been there?
Yeah, I grew up in Indiana and we used to go down to St. Petersburg FL every spring break to see my grandma and we used to stop there for a few hours to watch the hang gliders jump off. There was even a things close to there that had a hang glider on a cable set up that my sister and I did.

My parents were real into Ultralight aircraft and then I got into it as well.
Yes, we saw some of them taking off from the ground below. They were actually bringing the gliders up to about 2000 feet or so, then releasing them. We only got to see a few people launch from the top, but we drove by the next evening and there were about a dozen people prepping to jump. It's a happenin' place!
It is cool to hear that people are still into it. I feel like parachute tech improved and a lot of people got into para-sailing because you could pack away the chute and put it in your trunk. Also with the powered parachutes there is a little easier of a pack away process compared to a hang glider.
Awesome pics David! Wise choice just watching the hang gliding 😆
I love the bed and breakfast - so quaint and so much character. And it seemed to suit the surroundings .I like it when the architecture complements the setting.
My wife and I love doing similar things. Where we live there are literally hundreds of waterfalls - it's a small Victorian village on the outskirts of Toronto with trails and views similar to your photos (Mind you, that vista in the last photo is breathtaking!)
This, in my opinion, is a true getaway. Most people say they want to get away and then engage in frenetic activities that produce the opposite effect. I felt peace and joy as I accomapnied the two of you on your photo adventure.
Lovely!
@ats-david, You had really fascinating holiday! I look forward to continuing the story!

Great posts, I've been following you for a while now. I love how your posts tell a story. I've been trying to help out my followers but I think I'm stuck. My reputation seems to be holding at 41 and don't know how to improve this. I'm obviously going to keep trying to put up helpful original content, I was just wondering if you had any advice for a young minnow? Cheers (also apologies if this wasn't the right medium to ask, I'm new here)
What a wonderful place you stayed in. Love the rustic look of it. Beautiful nature all around, you must have had the best of times. Great pictures by the way.
Sounds like a brilliant get away and a good teaser for us, had to follow to see more of your adventure
Absolutely stunning photos! Very impressive!
