Green Heron Photography :)
We had a "What is that?" moment when we saw this bird. I did some research online to figure out what it was and concluded that it must be a green heron :)
The proportions of the birds body are intriguing such as its long beak length, almost nonexistent neck (in this photo anyway), and its large "legs" and talons. The coloring is very unique as well with its charcoal and burnt/rust colored body, yellow eyes and legs, and contrasting feathers on the wings.
Though the bird looks a little angry lol, it posed very nicely for the photo, really never moving - just looking at us :)

how did you google because it is an image you used google reverse?..
I searched for things describing it like "Large bird with long beak by water" and also flipped through a bird book I have to help with narrowing down the different types :)
