White Point Nova Scotia / 7Shots

in #photography6 years ago

Welcome to 7Shots, my new photography category with seven themed photos of travel, material studies and art. The first edition is about White Point, Nova Scotia, which my girlfriend and I visited in 2016 during a 3,700 km road trip across Nova Scotia.

While Cape Breton Highlands National Park is known for its picturesque costal landscapes, only a few kilometers away lies a hidden gem off the beaten path: White Point, Nova Scotia. Northeast of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, rocky White Point peninsula is situated between Dingwall and Neil’s Harbour, which reminded us more of the Scottish Highlands than many parts of the National Park.

A Tourist Information Centre advisor recommended White Point. It pays off to stop and ask around, as White Point turned out to be one of our highlights of the trip. I can’t speak for summer’s peak season, but when we arrived in September, there was hardly anybody else visiting, making for some great photo opportunities.

Make sure to pay attention to the ocean side of the peninsula, as we saw groups of seals playing close to the shore. If you are looking for a nice place to stay nearby, we enjoyed our stay at The Markland Coastal Beach Cottages in Dingwall.

I will be posting about other memorable stops during of our 3,700 km Nova Scotia trip again.

What was your favorite off the beaten path travel discovery?
