The past week here in Southern California we had some classic late-Winter sunsets. However, unique over the past couple of days is how eerily low the tide has been. The first photo was taken yesterday (Sunday) in Santa Monica near Lifeguard Tower 24. Malibu is in the far distance.
This photo was taken from the same location today (Monday). Always birds photo-bombing...
These birds almost look like you placed them there for the image! A bird in the hand, said someone I know. ;)

hanskarr310, I was thinking the same thing. Interesting with birds at sunset, they typically fiy towards the sun. Some say its to re calibrate their compass.
First picture looks more attractive at first look but both picture are great. You should add #goldenhourphotography tag to enter in the contest arranged by mr. juliank.

Surreal seems to be appropriate for many of the sunsets down here. Very fortunate to be so close. there is actually some scientific reasons for the birds to fly towards the sun. I need to do a full-on blog on the various reasons.

Beautiful sunsets. It definitely was worth waiting for them to come. Do you mind if I know whether you have applied some color correction on the pictures ? The pictures give me good vibes/atmosphere which is really cool = )

Thank you @castbound. I try to avoid any editing other then cropping. That said on the above photo's I used the basic sharpen feature which is helpful with birds flying by quickly.
