My walk down to the Caledonian Canal in Inverness
From our home, there are many walks @dana-varahi and I can do. One of them is down the hill to the part of the Caledonian Canal that passes through Inverness. This canal was built in the early part of the 19th century and allows fair sized vessels to pass from the North Sea at the Inverness end to the Irish Sea at the south west end of the canal, that follows the Great Glen. The Inverness part of the Canal joins into Loch Ness.
These photos were just taken on my phone earlier today, so they aren't as good as if I'd used a proper camera, but I think they document the walk pretty well.

Looks very nice :)
Thanks. It feels great living here. I really enjoy living in a place like this...
I grew up in Inverness, California...
I bet it looks a bit different... :D
I love it when people share little adventures like this. I can imagine you walking from your house to a magical place. Looks a lot like Maine; makes me homesick.
I was lucky to catch the boats today. They appeared just as I reached the canal. Inverness is quite a bit further North than Maine. The Northern tip of Main is at a latitude of 47N. Inverness is 57N. In fact even the most Southerly point of Great Britain, Lizard Point, is 49N. And yet I hear Maine is pretty cold. Must be the gulf stream keeping Britain warm...
