Humayun's Tomb, Delhi - UNESCO World Heritage Centre [New Delhi Monument - 1]

Location: Located near the crossing of Mathura road and Lodhi road, this magnificent garden tomb is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in India.

As the name suggests, Humayun's tomb is the final resting place of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. The Humayun’s Tomb situated in New Delhi (Capital of India) is the first garden-tomb of the Indian Subcontinent. It was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, a Persian architect from Afghanistan. Location of the tomb is close to the Purana Qila or Old Fort in the Nizamuddin East area of Delhi. It was also the very first large sandstone structure in India. In 1993, UNESCO declared this tomb as a World Heritage Site.
