I am also quite new to STEEMIT and I always upvote and comment a lot more than what I get back. You will have to work very hard to get noticed or recognized. My advice is just post organically and with love and passion for what you do and upvote and comment what you enjoy to read and followers will come to you..and friends.. don't be discouraged.. :)
