These are edible wild berries according to our Igorot guide. I was supposed to pick some and eat it but when the guide said she never personally experienced eating it herself, so I hesitated. Why would I give it a try if the local person hasn't tasted it yet? She said, other locals eat it though.
The plant is more or less a foot tall and there's plenty of them on the mountain. The fruits look similar to strawberries, the only difference is that these berries pop out of their cover when ripe.
The fruit is round in shape and brownish in color plus it has hairy like covering the fruit's skin. There's plenty of seeds on it too as we can see in the above macro shots.
After all, my stomach was already full of other berries we encountered at the earlier stage of the climb but not this one while we were trekking. So if you encounter this and the guide hasn't tried it yet, don't. Or have you already experienced eating one of these, let me know below so that I could give it a try next time.
Here ends my macro photography for today. Maraming salamat po!(Thank you very much!)

Indeed, the photographs of berries similar to strawberries. But properly done, not eat them. Strange berries is better not to use. Lovely photos.
