I've never thought of this roll technique but it makes sense. The serial shooting is what I used to do most of the time, specially with moving subjects such as pets or capturing groups since I can merge the best in post.

When I upgraded to a DSLR the camera had a 2sec timer which was really good because I could wait two seconds, ten was too much. My film camera has a 10 second timer that i use to avoid movement. In film I take my time so I'm ok waiting this long
