Lake Jack London. June 2018. Part 1

I did not plan a spring trip to the lake, but it would not be wise to abandon the outstanding opportunity. At the spring photo tour, a group called by Maxim Yevdokimov drove in and we decided to unite in one group, all financially easier.

On the day of arrival, we have overcome only the distance from Magadan to the turn on Lake Jack London. Near the bridge I had to spend the night. The first obstacle on the way to the treasured lake is the River Debin and the ruined bridge. From this perspective, it still seems whole, but in fact two flights have been demolished in the middle, and soon there will not be two more. Kolyma rivers have the ability to increase their size very quickly, just one shower. It was not possible to cross the river for a river. so to replace the ZIL-157 came the GAZ-71 all-terrain vehicle, which was parked even before the floods on the other side of the river. To increase the cost of the check-in, I was not ready, but with the sales of the album I could pay for the trip. On the second day they crossed on a motor boat and began to load.

The crossing, preparation of the all-terrain vehicle and loading took a long time, for which we were covered by another shower. They went to the road only in the late evening. On the way I had to change the bearing.

By dawn we arrived at 21 km to the river Left Sukhahy, where they stood up. It was impossible to move the river. Suhahy is able to leave the coast for a couple of hours, it is only necessary to pass the rain in its upper reaches. Powerful flow was able to demolish our all-terrain vehicle, there was nothing left to do but wait again. Fortunately, this river also calms down just as quickly.

By the morning the water fell a little, but another rain, which had passed in the mountains, quickly corrected this.

In order not to waste time in empty expectation, we decided to walk towards the glacial moraine, on the left side of which were visible rocky outcrops and a huge landslide.

Looking at the valley, I imagined how it might look when there was a glacier here.

His work was impressive, in the valley large hills are piled up, on top of which there is a river pebble. Amazing power!

From the hills saw the lake and decided to visit it, suddenly it will be possible to catch up with the passing sunset.

Have had time for the last rays. This time the symmetry was asked for in the frame. He did not refuse.

Overnight, the water level fell enough to cross the river. In the valley of Right Suhahi, our driver, an experienced hunter, noticed grazing deer. How many of them do you count? The next group saw a second group. Hearing the noise of the engine, they stopped and, making sure that we were moving away, did not change their direction. For the first time, I was able to notice the deer only when they began to move, then to separate the animal from the vegetation for me no longer made it difficult.

The higher we climbed into the mountains, the lighter the larch color became. This is June 20 and judging by the color of the needles, the larch blossomed here a few days ago. Birch Middendorf just opened the kidneys.

We stopped by the pass and found ourselves in the very beginning of spring, there was still snow here, and the frozen tundra just started to thaw. We had to make our way through the snowfields and ice. The ATV handled this perfectly. On the horizon, you can already see the peaks Aboriginal and Festivalny, in the mountains, winter still reigns. Very soon it was to pass a deep puddle with a shaky bottom, where not every off-road vehicle passed from the first time, often staying in a puddle until the arrival of a rescue. Our all-terrain vehicle designed for running on the tundra, it was easier to go around this puddle, which was done.

We arrived at Lake Jack London only at 9 o'clock in the evening. The sunset was approaching. On the lake there was still ice, which usually already descended on the 20th of June. The absence of a boat on the shore and the presence of an ice shell have canceled our plans for visiting Lake Nevidimki and the stream of the Unknown. Maxim plan the photo tour had to be completely rebuilt, but none of the guests did not regret about it. I, like a real Indian, did not care where to go anyway, in such places it's always interesting, and making "corrections to the wind" is my hobby.

The next 8 days we will shoot here, but for now, we need to unload things and break camp.
