Historical Masjidkur Mosque

Many ancient villages of kayra upazila of Khulna are Amade. This village is located in the eastern part of the Kobadak Nand. It is believed that the disciples of Mahatma Khanjahan Ali, Burra Khan and Fateh Khan, ruled this area during the period of 1450-1490. They built a nine-domed mosque here, named Masjidkur. It is a mosque made of brick-and-tear, which is the oldest archaeological site in south Bengal.
Kobadak is the river of Sundarbans. During the marine tidal waters, the monster looks. On the south side of the mosque was Burra Khan and Fateh Khan's cemeteries and tombs, much of it was washed away by the flood of Kobadakhi. The original mosque was once sown in the parish. All the areas became jungle. People did not dare to go to the mosque for fear of animals. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the mosque was reclaimed by massive reform of the area.
The square next to the mosque is 16 .76 m, inner size 12.19 m. Apart from the wall, there are three arched entrances to the mosque on the remaining three walls. The middle entrances are relatively big. The semi-circular mihrab has been made to the wall of the opposite direction. The middle mihrab is relatively big. There is a roof on four pillars inside the mosque. These four pillars divide the inner part of the mosque into nine chambers. The squares covered with dome. The mosque was once decorated with terracotta, now a lot of them have dropped or lost.
The design of Sikandar Shah's nine domed tombs is remarkable beside the Adina Mosque of Pandua with the design of Amadir Masjidkur Mosque.
However, the design of buildings built in Khanjahan in Bagerhat is almost the same. The mosque is currently under the supervision of Archeology Department of Bangladesh Government.
