Testing my new Steem funded Nikon camera

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Let me say first that I'm not a professional photographer. I'm quite the opposite, actually. But recently, a passion for photography started growing in me, forcing me to think about upgrading my old point and shoot equipment.

There's something about capturing the special moments, playing with lights and perspectives and ability to express yourself that grabbed my attention.

So I went on and used some funds I earned on Steemit to buy Nikon D5300 and a 35mm f/1.8G lens to go with it. As an amateur photographer I was satisfied with this entry level DSLR.

Will this make my creative juices flowing? Hopefully. I don't intend to use it just as a tool for creating beautiful memories, but also to tell stories and express myself, capture feelings and simply to find beauty everywhere around me.

I went out today and gave it a test ride on the hot Belgrade streets.

And a special bonus

Oh I'm gonna have so much fun with it. :)

I loved the special bonus 😂. The book market looks awesome!

:D Yeah, there's a lot of these street markets with really cheep and/or antique books.

Ah, the fruits of your labor have netted beautiful shots. I particularly enjoy the one at the park that looks like it was shot through a fence. The bonus kitty shots were pretty awesome too :D Thank you for sharing your photos with us. I also want to thank you for reading and upvoting my 'House That Books Built' story!
Best,
Mo

I'm glad you enjoyed my amateur photography. :) Thanks for the comment and have fun on Steemit!

I'm off to a good start :)

Lovely photos! I'm not sure but I'm assuming these are unedited.? For a wide angle lens and for one who's not a pro, you are composing your photos really well. I enjoyed looking at all the photos. Great colour and contrast. You really gave a feel of the energy at each place. Just one thing though: the photos are a tiny bit on the darker side. So if you think like me and I'm a pro, just try dialing up your exposure a bit and the photos will be brighter. And enjoy your Steem funded Nikon as much as possible! Photography is one of the bestest things in this world. Cheers! :)

Yes, photos are unedited and I agree - they are a bit darker than they should have been. As I'm not a pro, I couldn't tell on the spot and kept the same exposure. :)
Thanks for the composition compliment, I tried telling a story with each photograph, though it's sometimes hard with street photography to have all the good stuff in the frame, cause everything is moving and you have to act fast.
I'll be having tons of fun practicing and learning ins and outs of photography. :)

Great pictures 😊 amazing shots seem like a great camera.. Lol
I love taking pictures to and at some point I also felt like an upgrade is a must.

I will and thank you for sharing this 😊 have a great weekend

You're on fire!

I am like you, no pro but passionate for photography, have fun with the cam, following you now.

Thanks! I'll be following your journey as well.

Dude congrats on new camera! I hope one day thanks to Steemit I will buy my new one! :) Really nice shots! Keep up!

Thanks! I wish you that as well. :)

You are so well on your way to being a candid street photographer already. Fabulous captures. Lovely to see the street book stand and art display.

It's an area I've only just become interested in too. Wordless day to day stories, that seem to have little significance ~ And yet they give us a true picture of our world. And your cat images make me melt.

I'm glad you enjoyed these! Looking forward to following your photography stories. :)

Nice work capturing these photos @alcibiades! I look forward to seeing where your newfound passion for photography takes you next. I've developed a similar interest in photography recently too, and it definitely has something to do with the many inspiring photographers on steemit :)

Agreed, photography here on Steemit definitely inspires this newfound passion. :) Looking forward to following your journey as well!

This is great! Congratulations on your new purchase. Whenever I buy something from my earned STEEM it feels extra special or something :)

I love the cat!

Definitely! I try not to cash out too much STEEM, but when I do buy something with it, it feels pretty great. :)

I know how you feel! It feels oddly satisfying for your hard work - it's a different kind of reward than your job salary somehow.
