It grew from a stomp of a tree, from the looks, I can see that this is edible but not really sure how to cook it!

Lingzhi mushroom
Names for the lingzhi fungus have a two thousand-year history. The Chinese term lingzhi was first recorded during the Han dynasty (206 BC – 9 AD). Petter Adolf Karsten named the genus Ganoderma in 1881. And I know this because this is one ingredients of coffee name lingzhi

There are multiple species of lingzhi, scientifically known to be within the Ganoderma lucidum species complex and mycologists are researching the differences among species within this complex. But you can I dentify them as hard surface fungus.

Lingzhi is a polypore mushroom that is soft (when fresh), corky, and flat, with a conspicuous red-varnished, kidney-shaped cap and, depending on specimen age, white to dull brown pores underneath. It lacks gills on its underside and releases its spores through fine pores, leading to its morphological classification as a polypore. Which I think is pretty common. Source.

Thank you for coming into my story, and kind support in my photography!
Wishing to share more photograph soon!
Wow, they grow right on the tree!
Yup, their foods are the decomposing tree
You are a real mushroomer, for example I know little about them and when I'm called to go for mushrooms I'm afraid to mix up the edible from not edible.
Nice Pictures! Thanks Upvoted.
