Russian New Year Party in Holland
We came to Holland to visit my husband's family. And my husband's friend with his girl - friend came to Holland from Moscow too.
So, we were meeting the New Year together.
I am not sure about Dutch traditional New Year table but in Russia it is always different salads.
So, I cooked a must - have salad for New Year which is called Hering under Fur Coat.
It is a really interesting salad and shortly I can tell about the layers.
Hering under Fur Coat
Between all the layers you need to spread mayonnaise
First layer - hering cut into small pieces
Second layer - onion cut into small pieces
Third layer - grated boiled potato
Fourth layer - grated boiled carrot
Fifth layer - grated eggs
Sixth layer - grated red beet
Last one - mayonnaise (bw all the layers mayonnaise too, don't forget)
Impress your family)))
Another a must - have salad was Olivier. It was called by the name of a French cooker who lived in Russia and invented that salad. There is a big difference between an old and a new version but the name stayed the same. It is a favourite Russian salad. You need to mix cut boiled chicken breast (most people use ham), cut boiled potatoes, cut boiled carrots, cut boiled eggs, cut pickled cucumbers, green pees (from can), cut onion and mayonnaise.
We also had baguette with guacamole, dried tomatoes and humus spreads.
For the main dish we had steaks, potatoes baked with rosemary and blue cheese sauce.
Another must have program in Russia is the President's speech.
And of course, clock chime!
In 2 hours we met the New Year under the Dutch time.
I wish you all the best in the New Year!!!!!!!!!!!
