Adriano, scusa, ma queste fotografie non sono ne di locuste ne di cavallette, ma si tratta di una Mantide Religiosa, non è erbivora, ma carnivora, si mangia altri insetti. La testa delle locuste e delle cavallette è totalmente differente.

Im pretty sure this is a Praying Mantis, not a grasshopper/ hop-a-grass (as we call them in the south). But yes they can be destructive and you may need to 'soap your plants' to get them to leave.

Fidati, è una mantide religiosa, la forma triangolare della testa, le zampe anteriori forti (si mangia il maschio dopo l'accoppiamento) sono proprio delle mantidi, le cavallette e le locuste invece hanno testa oblunga e zampe posteriori forti per i salti, mentre quelle anteriori sono piccole, solo normalmente le mantidi in italia sono di un bel verde chiaro molto acceso, mentre quella che hai fotografato tu no. qui (nel mio account su 500px.com) puoi trovare due foto (una mantide e una cavalletta) fotografate qui a casa mia sul mio balcone :
