Quest For Snow - Part III - Ascending
We waited and waited... And then waited some more. 3+ hours of nothing. And I'm not the type that falls asleep easily, more so in cars... So seeing the gate open I was super psyched.
We rushed in, past the bend... and in the near distance, glowing in white, Mount Hermon
ZOOM IN
ENHANCE!
SNOWPLOW!
Memes aside - and I love this zoom enhance one, I mean just watch it on super troopers or this crazy parody I just found out which is just as good - This felt like once in a life time shot, as the camera was asleep, and this truck was going faaaast. so damn fast. Click. And I had this gem. Felt very nice.
Why is there a police truck going the other way? Did a crime take place over the night, with the military guarding the site and all? My guess is that these chumps (lots of love to the police in Israel obviously) used their credentials to sneak into the site, doing anything they want, before the site is opened for visitors - which happened at 10. almost all night no snow, and these people just happen to head to the exit just as casual visitors come rushing in. Oh well, at least we got to see snow at last.
I honestly can't remember seeing so much snow in my life. Maybe once I've been to a field trip with family in the snow, some other time we drove to Jerusalem and seen some in the middle of the city. And years and years back when I was wee little boy, we went here, but I barely remember that, and obviously w/e we did wasn't very remarkable because I just remember one place from that trip, and it's inside my head :) but I can't remember seeing such beautiful white scene in all my years. In the picture just above the railing you can see the parking are, and the barracks of the millitary unit responsible for plowing. I'm assuming the military has uses for the site beyond my comprehension :)
At long last, we made it to the snow. I marked our terriorty with Alex's coca cola zero bottle. I didn't take picture of it when we came back, as it was stolen :( or someone threw it in the trash as he thought it was a trash? who knows... I hope the coke thief had nice time though.
Before going to the site, or ascending to the parking, I wondered what if I just climb there? apparently it's forbidden, and me and the gang joked me getting sniped by ISIS for trying to scale it before they open at 10. This site warn against climbing as rocks might fall and roll and cause havoc. So good that I didn't try to climb it from the other side ;)
Next post I will be posting pictures from the snow, Dawn the snow loving lab and many other interesting occurrences on the Hermon site. Stay tuned.
