Quest For Snow - Part I - Roadtrip

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Our story begins with a simple idea - while my good friend Alex is in Israel (he likes to spend most of his time in the great Thailand area), we should go to Mount Hermon to see snow. So after talking about it, the weather played along, and this weekend we saw some stormy weather. Lots of rain everywhere, strong winds, and in the far north part of Israel, Mt Hermon had some snow falling on it. Even though the rain stopped at around 4 am, and through the morning it was warm and sunny, enough for @techslut to go on a trip with @mrlightning to soak some sun and take selfie with horses - and I'm super damn proud of her! hell of a rebound!

Anyhow... The weather was just right, we were packed and went on our merry way. It's a long drive from Herzliya to the Hermon, almost 200 kilometers. it took us ~3 hours with just few quick stops. Here are the pictures from the drive.

In the next post I will show how we watched the sunrise and waited 3 hours for the site to open.

So fog, much mist, such wow

Golani Junction apparently uses blue lights instead of green - or it's a cool color cast that I didn't fix in post

Road is winding up ahead, darkness all around us

A bridge of light on black sea of nothing

Land ahead! It's Mt Hermon in the distance, all covered in white for us

Just about the exit Mas'ada, the Hermon is as inviting as ever. Soon we'll be rolling in snow, or so I thought

Next post is sunrise themed, with few HDRs and panoramas. Upvote, comment, and follow to be the first to see the 2nd post in the series.
