Last week Monday, I went to a vegetarian place for reunion dinner. They usually serve buffet but only had reunion set dinner.

The advantage of eating reunion dinner more than a week early on a weekday is there is not many people. A few tables were occupied before we started. By the time we left, only one other table was occupied.

The usual thing we start with for reunion dinner is the yusheng dish.

Then comes there rest of the food.

I quite like the soup.

This sambal mock fish is bit too spicy.
这叁巴素鱼有点太辣了。
This dish of fried food was bit too dry for me.
这道炸食物对我来说有点干。
I preferred the mushrooms with vegetables.
我还是喜欢较这。
The fried rice was OK.
炒饭还算不错。
This dessert was quite lovely.
甜品不会太甜。合我口味。

The food looked really good. I am not sure I understand what a reunion dinner really means...
It's a Chinese New Year custom. One the eve, the family gather for a reunion dinner. In cases for people go out of the home town to work, they go home for that. It’s a big logistic issue for place like China from what i heard. Nowadays, in Singapore, many people choose to eat out and necessary on the day of the eve. Partly because many eating places are closed and they rip you off more on the eve. Often, on the the eve, they have restricted hours.
Ah I see! So that does sound like a big deal and also a nice custom to help keep the family ties together. Thank you for explaining it for me :-)
