Did you ever heard Red Sorghum? I guess one of you are the consumer this cereal. However, if you just hear this crop, so does Mr. Toha. As this article is being written, Mr. Toha just harvests that crop planted 5 months ago in a half hectare land.

Mr Toha is a farmer staying in Bandung, West Java Indonesia. He is the leading farmer for cultivating Sorghum, Moringa, and several vegetables. Now he is a part of Odesa Indonesia, Social fondation empowering farmers in Cimenyan, Bandung, West Java.

He plants it for producing a nutritious food. According recomendation of FAO, Sorghum is one of the healthy food, for it gluten-free, low sugar, and high of fiber. Previously, he has cultivated the white Sorghum as recomended by Odesa. He harvested it well at that time.

In cropping the red one, it is like practicing in cabbage. He has to be persevering to fertile the plants at the first-month. Afterwards, it could survive in dry. "Wereng" is the only its pest. In harvesting period, birds just eat a bit that is not like the white one.

Finally I test the rice of Red Sorghum made by his wife. It is similar to the white, not sweet. This is the first time for me to test it.

How about you, steemians? Do you have an experience about Sorghum?

Wow - no, have never seen it grown. Not sure I have ever eaten it either. Is it like barley or rice to taste? What an amazing planet we live on, where there is such diversity.

We look forward to hearing a LOT more from Odesa in the New Year.

It grows higer than the white one. The test is not same as rice, but I don't know whether its test like barely or no. I guess tt is not as sweet as rice.
