Hello All this is Aaron Li from Hong Kong. I like my city and I am learning photography. So, I wish to share some of my snapshot in Hong Kong, and tell you story of the photos.

今天在下雨天走在銅鑼灣，偶然經過了這間可說是香港其中一間最出名的餐廳，雖然現場的環境非常差，但還是要努力找個比較好的角度拍一張照！
Walking in Causeway Bay under the rain, I passed by the Goldfinch Restaurant which is one of the most important restaurant in Hong Kong culture. Although the shooting environment was bad, I tried my best to take a photo.

Goldfinch Restaurant And “In the Mood of Love”

金雀餐廳是香港其中一間最有名的餐廳，原因是它是導演王家衛的兩部經典電影：《花樣年華》及《2046》的取景場地！這兩部電影相信華人朋友都很熟識了，至於外地的朋友，如果你是香港電影愛好者，亦一定聽過這兩部電影！
Goldfinch Restaurant is one of the most famous restaurant in Hong Kong, one of the reason is the two great films: “In the Mood of Love” and “2046” directed by Wong Kar Wai. I believe all Chinese friends must know these two films. And my foreign friends, if you like Hong Kong movie, you must have heard of them!

《花樣年華》在可說是香港電影中的第一經典，更曾獲多個高度評價，包括2016年《英國廣播公司》BBC評選為「21世紀最偉大的100部電影」第2位、2011年《英國泰晤士報》評選「百大必看電影」第4名、2009年美國CNN評選「電影史上18部最佳亞洲電影」第1名等等。
“In the Mood of Love” is the no.1 classic film of Hong Kong. It was highly ranked in a number of press, including: 2nd place on BBC’s list of 100 greatest films of the 21st century in 2016, 4th place on The Sunday Times’ “100 Must-See Films” in 2011, 1st place on CNN’s “Best Asian Films of all time” in 2009…etc.

老實說，我真的看不太懂這部電影，但整部電影的畫面都散發著一種美感。當看著周慕雲(梁朝偉)與蘇麗珍(張曼玉)在餐廳裡的對話，雖只是寥寥數句，但總給我一種難以言喻的感覺，而金雀餐廳亦因這兩部電影，成就了它今天的重要地位。
Actually, I really didn’t understand too much what the film is telling. But I may say that it is the most beautiful film I have even watched. Watching Chow Mo Wan (Tony Leung) and Su Li Zhen (Maggie Cheung) in the restaurant, I had a “hard to say” feeling. And because of the film, Goldfinch Restaurant climbs up to its important position in Hong Kong.

金雀站在銀樹上

金雀餐廳於1962年開業，開業時由於餐廳對面有一家名為銀樹的夜總會，所以餐廳老闆以金雀為名，寄以「金雀站在銀樹上」的意思，希望吸引夜總會的客人來進餐。由於開業以來直到2015年間，金雀餐廳一直沒有進行大型裝修，故金雀餐廳一直保持1960年代香港西餐廳的格局，充滿懷舊風味。由於這種懷舊風味的餐廳在香港已買少見少，故吸引了很多電影來此取景，除了之前所說的《花樣年華》及《2046》外，還有1987年的《最後勝利》和1998年的《暗花》等。
Goldfinch Restaurant was opened in 1962. There was a night club called “Silver Tree” opposite to it. So they named the restaurant as “Goldfinch”, taking the concept of “gold finch standing on a silver tree” and wished to attracted the customer of the Silver Tree Night Club. Up till 2015, Goldfinch never had a large-scale renovation so it keeps the 1960’s old Hong Kong style. Because of the style, many HK films were attracted to shoot at the restaurant.

金雀餐廳開業初期為了吸引客人，做了兩項突破，第一是請女侍應，是香港第一家聘用女侍應的西餐廳，第二則是以豉油做西餐的燒汁，結果開業僅18天就已回本，更帶起此兩項潮流。
To draw customers at the very beginning, Goldfinch Restaurant made two innovation: hiring female waiter (The first restaurant in Hong Kong) and using Soy sauce as the sauce of western style food. These two innovations made Goldfinch Restaurant break even after 18 days of opening.

金雀餐廳一直以來不論是格局、料理、餐牌、甚至餐具，都停留在60年代，口味50年不變，加上電影《花樣年華》的加持，故一直以來吸引無數客人，甚至很多明星藝人都前來光顧。
Goldfinch keeps it 1960s Hong Kong style, no matter decoration, meal, menu book and even tableware, without changing over 50 years. It attracted countless diners, including famous stars.

未能與您走到二零四六，榮幸與您渡過花樣年華

We can’t go with you through 2046, but honored having been with you in the mood of love.

2015年，金雀餐廳突然宣佈結業，店內貼上了「未能與您走到二零四六，榮幸與您渡過花樣年華」的告示，並於9月20日停止營業。幸好，事隔不久金雀餐廳就宣佈它們只是需要重新裝修，並於2016年重新營業，保留所有1960年代的格局，與大家一起走到2046。
In 2015, Goldfinch suddenly announced that they would close on 20th of Sept. On their notice board, it is written that “未能與你走到二零四六，榮幸與您渡過花樣年華”, which means “we can’t go with you through 2046, but honored having been with you in the mood of love”. Luckily, they announced that they only needed a long-time renovation soon afterword and they opened again in 2016. All the decorations and styles are kept the same as 1960s HK style.
