ABOUT THE PHOTO

This is a multi shot panorama; so click on it to see in high resolution. Its probably not where you think it is ... best of luck!

RULES & HOW TO PLAY

For Where is it Wednesday we would like you to Guess the location of the photo

  1. The closest guess will win the prize, be as specific as you can!
  2. Only one guess per person, per post.
  3. No editing your guess - you have to commit!
  4. All metadata has been stripped from the pictures, so don’t bother looking for the EXIF!
  5. We are not required to tell you what kind of camera was used, or what time of day the photo was taken at, or whether filters were involved (this adds to the mystery and the challenge!)
  6. For this game you have 2 days to guess (Friday 6PM EST / 11PM UTC)
  7. If only one person gets the correct (or closest) answer they will win full prize pool
  8. If multiple people guess correctly (tie for 1st): 60% to first person / 40% divided between the next 5 people
  9. If no one comes up with the correct location, the prize will go either to the closest guess, or (if no one is even close) will be rolled over into next week’s pot.

NEW TO THE PHOTOGAMES??

Introduction to The Photo Games Post.

Sort:

This is an absolutely amazing shot! Wow! Good on you man

Thanks mate ! Where do you think it was taken?

Haha, not a clue. Switzerland?

It was in Tasmania, Australia

THE ANSWER : This shot is taken looking back towards Mount Harold (1,126 meters or 3,694 feet) from the Surprise Valley in King William region of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park in Tasmania, Australia ! The closest was @r00sj3 and @alevaskye who both guessed in Tasmania but not the specific location. As per the rules above @r00sj3 will get 60% of the reward and @alevaskye 40%.
@jarvie backed @r00sj3 so from the 'photostars' and @derekkind backed @alevaskye so they get the bragging rights although I think @jarvie backed it first !

Northern Rocky Mountains Provincial Park in BC

Nice and specific !

I have no idea but that works for me. Backing @aweber up!

Yeah well neither do I. But, there's at least a chance right? ;)

Haha! Roll the dice! Good luck to us...

It was in Tasmania, Australia

Great shot, but I have no clue on the location :(

Just pick a continent! Seems we have Africa and North America covered at the moment !

Ok, so my guess is Alberta, Canada.

It was in Tasmania, Australia

Mmm, not too bad...if only the game had been "Guess the place at the opposite part of the world" I would have won :D

I had a guess but apparently its not where i think it is. ;)

Probably ! Unless your the one ...

Oh, that's a toughie! :D

Yes my random world travel pattern may prove hard to track down.

Unless it's actually a really obvious location......

Second one of these I'm guessing BC for! Mt Robson Provincial Park!

That's two for BC on this post as well !

It was in Tasmania, Australia

Not the Pico De Europa, running from North Spain into Portugal is it?
I took a motorbike road trip along it's route, and it seemed amazingly long and looked stunning in many places.

It was in Tasmania, Australia

Ah, close then.......... lol! Nice one!!

Atlas Mountains Morocco I guess

Interesting. Something like 80 % of the worlds phosphate is in the Atlas mountains. Many think Morocco might be the hot spot for the next world war once we hit peak phosphorus and phosphate based fertilizer becomes the key limiting factor to human food production.

Interesting, didn't know about the phosphate occurences in the Atlas mountains.
The phosphate topic reminds me of the history of Nauru, one of the smallest countires on earth. People got rich from mining of Guano, but nowadays the Guano is gone ... and since problems occur.

It was in Tasmania, Australia

As a guest photo star I will go with this answer. :)
