STORYTIME SUNDAY by @derekkind - Photo Games Week #1 Day 7
TODAY’S GAME = Tell us a story!
1 SBD Prize
The idea is simple: we share a photo, and you write a short story based on what you see in that photo.
There are no length requirements, but we’re looking for something original from you - not a quote or a quick phrase. So grab a beverage of your choice, sit down and let your creativity flow!
Each of the Photo Stars will pick their favourite and award the author with the SBD prize.
Fix It Friday and Show Off Saturday are still ongoing!
While you're developing your photo-story, don’t forget that there are two contests still open for participation! Fix It Friday, where you edit one of our photos, ends tomorrow, and Show Off Saturday, where you share your Red themed photos with us, is open until Tuesday - there are lots of SBDs to be won, and despite the recent market crash they still have value! ;-)
BACKGROUND OF THE PICTURE
One from the archives... I was inordinately proud of this photo at the time, because it was so difficult to create and because I thought cloaked figures and light painting and startrails were the coolest things in the world and that if you put them all together it would be a runaway hit, but after sober second thought I realized that I had no idea what was happening in the photo - there was no story behind it, and so it fell flat. Well, maybe you can help me out. What exactly is happening here?

It was a dark and stormy night... and by storm we mean the storms happening in the distant galaxies of the Kindonians who traveled here from the system of Kered. They escaped the fallout of the nutron collisions as they traveled to earth.
They were in search of energy which one can only find from the Fruity Trix Cereal ... it was serious business. No one laughed... not ever! Serious business as I said. On earth we think trix are for kids... but to the Kindonians of Kered this is how they were protected from the gallactic storms of Kered. Beautiful wonderful trix would encircle them and protect them and some of their children, usually just their favorites. The others would fend for themselves. Don't judge them... this isn't earth they were not born with your societal clues and morals. Though I must say they have judged you for your lack of respect for TRIX ... you eat them??! You're all Monsters!! It's a gallactic fact! That's why races from other galaxies have long since stopped visiting... you have no respect to the life force that has birthed whole civilizations. And that's why the Kindonians have come cloaked... earth is a place of morning. And not to be trifled with. - The End

“The lines are breaking!”the Three thought as one with sinister malevolence dripping between them.
“Our time, it comes,” the whine and shriek of the heavens itself wheeled in terror in its celestial race above as the the Three brooded still as death awaiting the day their prison would fall at last.
The order of the Universe trembled in silence awaiting their wrath, as moment by moment the patient Three thirsted for the day when at last the shackles of power that had held them at bay since the dawn of time might at last be slipped and chaos might take its place once more.

The earth beneath his feet shook. Eerie purple lights emanated from the surface of the ground on which the three enigmatic hooded figures stood. Then came a rumbling sound that grew louder and louder as the stars behind the mysterious strangers whirled round and round, making him dizzy and frazzled. Where those neon light rays a protective shield against imminent attack? He was frozen in fear as these thoughts and questions swarmed around in his mind. His mind kept telling himself to "run"! However, his legs were paralyzed, and he squinted, staring into the dark hoods, trying to make out faces. Where these aliens or evil humans?
That was the last thing he could remember.

Derek, regardless of your not knowing what was going on in that photograph, it's seriously a DOPE photograph!! Was this all in one shot? I'm willing to bet it was, and that it took quite a bit of expertise on your part. Awesome!!
Ahh, thank you, @johndykstra! I have to disappoint you - it wasn't one shot - but I will put forward that it was freaking difficult, especially at that stage in my photography career. It's a selfie (is it considered a group selfie if you clone yourself?), and I photographed this out in a plowed (uneven) field on a hot summer night in complete dark with june bugs and mosquitoes buzzing around. I kept tripping on the robe, which was actually just a formless sheet that kept undraping itself as I stumbled back and forth to the camera (I don't think the remote was working). Looking back on the experience I can only conclude that the whole thing was madness, and I can't believe I did it, but maybe the degree of difficulty is the reason I like it. :p
