METADATA MONDAY - Photo Games Week 6, Game 1
Win 1 SBD from each Photo Game Star’s post! - Guess the Focal Length!
Rules for today's Metadata Monday game below.
ABOUT THE PHOTO
I took this photo somewhere on the loooong drive down highway 37 through northern B.C. from Whitehorse (I could figure it out exactly given a bit of time, but it's nice to leave it as a mystery too!). Can you tell me what focal length I was using when I made this photograph?
I will give you two hints (and I'm not trying to lead you astray with these hints):
- The camera was the Nikon D750 (full frame).
- I only cropped a bit off the sides - nothing off the top or bottom.
RULES & HOW TO PLAY
Each of the guest Photo Stars will be sharing a photo to their blog. For Metadata Monday we would like you to guess the focal length of the photo. We are using the original stated focal length regardless of the type of camera or sensor size
- The closest guess will win the prize!
- Only one guess per person, per post.
- No editing your guess - you have to commit!
- All metadata has been stripped from the pictures, so don’t bother looking for the EXIF!
- We are not required to tell you what kind of camera was used, or what time of day the photo was taken at, or whether filters were involved (this adds to the mystery and the challenge!)
- For this game you have 2 days to guess (till Wednesday at 6PM EST / 11PM UTC)
- If only one person gets the correct (or closest) answer they will win the full prize pool
- If multiple people guess correctly (tie for 1st): 60% to first person / 40% divided between the next 5 people

I believe is . . . 50mm
You're the third to say 50mm...and you're not right, but 50mm is very, very close: the answer was 52mm. You'll get a share of the prize for your guess. :)
¡Almost I did it! jajaj this games are very creative.
@derekkind I will continue to participate
Glad to hear it, @maudesign! :)
50 looks good. Let's go with that.
SO close! It was 52mm, but you've definitely backed the closest guess. Photo Star winner!
YASSSSS! I win I win!
You may now do a happy dance.
Haha that works.
70mm
Thanks for the guess! :)
I'm using my Photostar rights bestowed upon me to back this guess. 70mm just feels so right.
60mm
75mm
50mm
You are the closest - the correct answer was 52mm (and for once I didn't deliberately choose a tricky number - I picked the photo first and went with whatever focal length it happened to be), and you were also the first to be closest, so you'll take the majority of the prize pot!!! :D
This hurts my eyes, but I can't look away...
Maybe this will help tear your eyes away from it.
Better on the eyes, but worse on the ability to walk away....dammit.
It's kind of the "swallow a spider to catch a fly" idea.
Are you trying to hypnotize us ?
Maybe, haha.
Yee-haw, Jackpot. :)
50mm
ps. nice composition but very heavy post processing
So close! The correct answer was 52mm, but you tied for the closest guess, being the second to say 50mm. :)
85mmm
What unit of measurement is mmm? Is that a a taste satisfaction metric?
million's of M&Ms
lol
Ok, I'm going to guess that it was a zoom lens set at something odd: 48mm.
Ohhhh, you were so close, you had the right idea but went to the wrong side of 50 - it was 52mm!
Oh dang! Haha!
I groaned when I saw your guess - so close!!
28mm
