Mop Top

This past weekend my wife and I visited some friends in Lexington, KY. One of the things we did with them was go to a local Latino Festival which was a lot of fun and I got to enjoy some tasty tacos. The festival also had a random little petting zoo packed full of an interesting assortment of animals. Included in the little zoo were llamas (or alpacas, not sure. What's the difference?), goats, miniature horses, and sheep. I felt pretty bad for the animals because there was hardly any room for them to move around and they were surrounded with obnoxious kids running around trying to get them to eat grass. On the bright side, their small space allowed me to get some pretty close pictures. I especially liked this this floppy haired llama that was chowing down on some vegetation.

There was also a separate little cage that had these adorable little Patagonian Cavies. They're apparently members of the guinea pig family, but look really different from guinea pigs! They have super scrawny front legs and look like they would be pretty spry. They were so cool to look at, but looked pretty terrified of the setting they were in. I would love to see some in the wild some day!
