Silver cactus in Paradise?
Well why not right? Paradise? Silver cactus...? 🤔
Matter of fact, this cactus only grows in Haleakala, Maui. TripAdvisor will advice you that touching these cacti’s has a $5,000 fine! Remember, they are only in Haleakala, which makes them endangered.
Haleakala is also known for its habitat & elevation of 7,000-10,000 ft. The soil consists of volcanic cinders. Volcanic cinders are rock fragments that are glassy and contain a large amount of gas bubbles that froze into place as the magma exploded in the air. The cinders cool down quickly and they can range from tens to hundreds of meters tall.
Maui does not have any active Volcanoes. Haleakala has fascinating views, with beautiful cacti around, and a pleasing red sand hike. Being that is way up above, it is chilly so think twice about what to wear when you get there. The sunrise is amazing with stunning colors! It’s unreal! The BEST time to go to Haleakala is at Sunrise. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you for your time! Aloha !

Wow very beautiful cactus
Thanks!
Interesting that they only grow in a certain place at certain elevations.
It's very interesting. I thought that was crazy, but it makes sense. The soil is rich in minerals. Thanks for the comment. :)
