Gribble Island looking for spirit bears
Spirit bears are quite the rare genetic marvel where the bear itself is pure white, due to a genetic anomaly and majority of these animals can be found on an island known as, Gribble Island in the Great Bear Rainforest. It is a remote and very difficult place to get to and you also require permission from the local indigenous community to even set foot on this island.
However, during the time I was exploring this region with local guides, whom are incredibly knowledgeable and more than willing to share their experience there was no rain, no fish and as a result we did not encounter a spirit bear. Therefore, I had plenty of time to play around with some long exposure photography of the river I sat beside for 2 days.
Just to be on this island, which is practically untouched and simply stunning was more than enough for me to feel beyond grateful. To encounter a bear would have been icing on an already incredible cake but wild animals are going to be wild animals. they do not live on our time schedule, as crazy as this sounds most people have that impression.
