"EYE OF THE WHALE"

13 Pictures from my visit to the "Eye of the Whale Arch" in Arches National Park (Moab, Utah)
I took a few friends in the truck down a short (though kinda rough) dirt road and did the short hike to the arch.

We thought the best shots were of the arch all aglow but realized that the other side now free of harsh direct sunlight was the real reason it was the "eye of the whale" I assume you can see the EYE.

LAST LIGHT

This is the side you enter from and as it gets close to sunset the last light wonderfully lights up the arch.
You either need a really wide angle or a panorama like what I did on these shots.

WITH AND WITHOUT YOU

I was happy to get both views with and without people.
And showing off that desert look.

In the end the shots with my friends turned out pretty epic.

THE VIEW FROM THE ARCH

It's not that far from balanced rock and the windows section of arches. Though a higher clearance vehicle is highly recommended.

From thethe arch you get a pretty decent view of the La Sal mountains.
Probably not the optimal spot for sunset but not bad either.

WOW - superb - I wanna go there

Great pictures. I like the ones with your friends in the eye. Nice to get a view from all angles too.

Thanks! Yeah it was a great thing we went down to the bottom part... we almost didn't.

Dude! That jumping picture is awesome. :) Great work!

Thanks it did turn out pretty awesome. I'm glad it happened. Sometimes it's just a matter or randomness and friends just being in the right place at the right time as I was still down at the bottom.

Great photos, the whole series is pretty sweet. The yoga stance in the eye is nicely done, as are the jumping ones.

AMAZING Scott! Every single one of them. Eres un genio.

These are amazing, I love both with people and without !

The shot with tree with the foreground of out of focus is spectacular! For some reason, that's one of my favorites from this set! While the rest are great (obviously), that shot is a great blend of a landscape shot combined with the portrait of the tree. Was that a pano or with your 135mm? Or both.

Awesome photos. Just outta curiosity, Did you use Gel lighting for for the portraits?

Very WOW!! 👍🏽

O_O it's beautiful! Would love to go and explore! We always said we would go and travel the USA for few months. So much to see!
Your photos are just stunning! Very inspirational!
