Have you heard if Crab Island in Cebu?
Have you heard of Crab Island, Cebu? Well ,I got introduced to this place through a popular facebook blog about Cebu. I followed the "how to get there " and found myself lost. Personally ,I think the instructions were wrong and way off the grid.
Instead of taking a van from SM Mabolo to Guarantee Mactan then to Gaisano Cordova and ask the tricylcd driver to take you to Crab Island from Eskina Ilaya I would strongly suggest for it to cost you less fare fees and travel time to take any transportation to Soong Marigondon then from there take a tricycle to Crab Island.
Because I got lost, I just tried to enjoy what comes in my way. I learned that there are many Japanese /Korean surplus shops in Cordova and a lot of good restaurants and resorts to try. I'd definitely go back there for that.
I thought it would be a walk in the park but boy it's not.It will take the strong willed and the adventurous for this trip .For one, it takes much balance to cross a flowing seawater to not hit your head in a sharp rock. Two,the place does not have the utilities you would expect in a private resort as its public. Three, being public there is not much security guards to keep order and lifeguards in case you drown. Also, there should be more awareness to keep the trash segregated and kept to minimum to preserve the place.
Since I could not go for a dip I decided to capture the happy moments in hopes it will be contagious on me. I just love watching the carefree youth daring each other to take that plunge or the laughter children make an they climb the kalachuchi trees or friends and family enjoying a stroll or just stretching in their mats under the trees.
I particularly like the sound of the sea as it crashes to the thick boulders .Its erosion had created wonderful sculpturing work on the rocks. Nature indeed always fascinates anyone with its raw simplicity and beauty.Watching everyone enjoy themselves makes me hopeful that happiness doesn't have to be pricey .
After I had a couple of souvenir shots I decided to go home as I can't afford to get wet and I don't want to risk my limbs for it as no destination is ever worth losing it. Sure I was glad to be here as it reminds me to be content with what I have and to take pleasure in simple things.
Do try this place when you're not busy. I suggest you go early morning or during low tides to avoid the hassles I went through. Also, I suggest don't get shocked if they demand entrance fee higher than what you read in that facebook blog. Since it summer time and it's gaining popularity some greedy locals tends to jock up the prices. Proof of which when I read that facebook post it said there no entrance but ato keep the place it's best if you pay yen pesos. While I pay 25php I eavesdrop on others in my van home they were charged 50php per head. Also, while it says 7pesoa per what from Eskina Ilaya to Crab Island I was charged 30pesos even of I did speak Cebuano. So brace yourself guys. Local should learn a thing or two about tourism. They must understand that by doing this kind of transactions is a big turn off for tourist locals or international alike as they feel rip off. Anyhow, for the adrenaline seekers this is one spot you'd most likely include in your bucketlist .
Till next post,
Ayn
