Azure Alignment - Across Canada, Day 2 of 92:

At Pukaskwa National Park in northern Ontario, the inaugural morning of my expedition dawned blue and beautiful with a healthy dose of fog and an unusual stellar and planetary alignment: Venus and Regulus (pictured), Mercury and Mars were all queued up in a line to grace the twilit sky with unknown portents. A sign for me?

It was the beginning of the first morning of photography, and it was, as they say, a good start, and gave me a boost of confidence towards completing my goal, which was to take at least one calendar-worthy photo in a National Park in every province. This was my first keeper.

I had been worried about little-known Pukaskwa (have you ever heard of Pukaskwa?) because of the dearth of online informaton: it had been difficult to determine where the best spots would be without boots-on-the-ground exploration, so I was arriving without specific locations in mind. I would just have to wing it without a plan, walk around and hope the weather and subject matter would align as well as those planets had.

It did...the first morning delivered spectacularly, serving up an assortment of clear blue starlit skies, moody fog and dazzling sunlight. I will be sharing more from Pukaskwa this week...

Wow, super cool and moody. A great auspicious start with the stars aligning!

Plant life ID: It looks like those could be Balsam Fir trees. :) Which are also very popular Christmas trees.

I knew you'd be good at that! I don't know my trees and plants very well, but I want to learn. Thank you, Sara! :)

Great photo.
Starting post was awesome too and you must have wonderful photos to share.
We all will have a great time visiting your posts and going round Canada. Thank you for that!

Thank you for the encouragement! :D

Sweetness! Lovely blue sky. :)

"I would just have to wing it without a plan. "

They are always the best shots. The internet has ruined that feeling of exploration in many ways.

At the very least, the internet has made it harder to achieve that feeling of exploration...but maybe that makes it all the more satisfying to explore and make photos in places you haven't already seen online?

There are still many places to do that however; especially in somewhere like Canada. Its just that the saturation of images narrows our perspective on where to go.
