RE: Carved in Stone: Troglodyte Village Kandovan, Iran

in #photofeed6 years ago

For me, what you see in Troglodyte Village Kandovan, is a jewel of architecture; I did not imagine that there were such houses made in caves. I was curious as to how these houses would be internally and looked for some photos on the internet that will show them and this is part of the result:

Interior of a traditional home

And this is a brief description found on the internet of people who have managed to enter these homes:
"But its greatest attraction, which makes it a unique place in the world, is the conical shape of the houses: wide at the base and rounded or sharp at the top ... even today, more than 160 families live. .. Small wooden doors embedded in the stone preserve the privacy of the inhabitants, friendly and humble people ... We knock on a door because curiosity can and we want to see what a house looks like inside. Then, at the knocking of the door we add: Tea, please? And as if by magic a woman of about eighty, hunched over and dressed in mourning, opens the door and invites us in. We bend our heads because of the fact that the stone ceiling seems to be low, but we can easily get in and the interior of the house appears as a single space, spacious, warm and cozy ... The rooms do not have any kind of luxury. magic of the experience consists of sleeping in a stone house, of ceilings rounded, wide and irregular walls, knowing that more than 6,000 years ago that the first humans inhabited the place.
