Landscape/Seascape Contest Week #039 - An island of birds
This photo was taken on Ile aux Cocos, a delightful little Robinson Crusoe like island situated only a few kilometers west of the main island Roderique. That is also a small island, belonging to Mauritius. Ile aux Cocos is only 1 km. in length and a few hundred meters at the widest point. Small and secluded, but probably one of the main tourist attractions when visiting Roderique. It is not inhabited by humans. It is a nature reserve and bird sanctuary, populated by different species of birds. In summer the island is populated with thousands of sea birds.
