Swamps... nature's leechfield
Seneca Lake drains into a swamp at the southern end that across like a leechfield. Along the east side of the swamp is an old dirt road that has some pull offs to observe nature.
Here are pictures of the road I traveled down. There are exposed shale ledges which are pretty cool to look at.
They built an observatory deck half way down the road in 2011. It's a nice spot to pull off and observe nature.
There is also a small boat / kayak launch as well where you can put out to paddle around the swamp and observe nature.
