Mamayev Kurgan

in #photo6 years ago (edited)

Probably many have been to Volgograd on the Mamayev Hill, but there are those who just want to go there. For them, I will write a series of posts, gradually talking about the Mamayev Hill.

Mamayev Kurgan was named since the Golden Horde, in honor of the temp Mamaia, who commanded ten thousand soldiers and was under the command of the khan himself.
He played a huge role in the history of those years and was buried on the mound.

Today Mamayev Kurgan is a monument-ensemble dedicated to the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad.

And it begins with a high relief "Memory of Generations", which is to the right of the staircase, depicting people carrying wreaths and flowers.
The monument symbolizes the eternal memory of the dead.

Also here you can see the memorial stele, on it are inscribed the words: "Years and decades will pass. We will be replaced by new generations of people. But here, to the foot of the majestic victory monument, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of heroes will come. They will bring flowers and bring children. Here,
thinking of the past and dreaming about the future, people will remember those who died defending the eternal fire of life. "

And in fact, people from all the cities come here to lay flowers to the mass grave to show and tell their children about the hardships of the war.

Going up the stairs, we get to a long alley, on each side of which grow slender poplars - candles.
It is called the alley of pyramidal poplars.

The length of the alley is 223 meters, width is 10 meters. In front of the avenue you see the main monument of the mound - Motherland Mother! But it's still a long way off.

And for today I'm finishing the tour of, it's going to be continued ......

Thank you all, with you was @marimag
